There is a saying that goes along the lines of, 

"Don't compare your chapter one to someone else's chapter twenty" 

As a writer it's so important to learn to stay in your own lane. Comparison can only lead 

to discouragement, impatience, overwhelm and so many other things. 

When I made a decision to finish my first book I made the mistake of comparing myself to other

more seasoned writers. I was nowhere close to where they were and I was freaking out. 

I tried to implement some of their advanced strategies and failed dismally. 

It's taken some time to realize that I need to stay in my own lane.

To become a successful author you need to do the work. 

The work of learning and making mistakes. 

It's okay to learn from others but don't fall into the trap of trying to be them. 

Your writing journey is unique to you. 

Stay in your lane and accomplish the goals you want to accomplish. 

Be okay with where you are. Becoming a success doesn't happen overnight. 

It takes time. 

So keep ploughing ahead friend.
