Welcome to another installment of Stay Uncomfortable. The boys start out with congratulating Oscar for graduating (1:00) and a funny story about the graduation ceremony and a little portion dedicated to the struggles of the job market. As usual we get the weekly wellness score staring with Oscar (5:15) and then Yohan (7:30) and we resume the Part Two of the 'Strong Men' series (8:30) with a recap of Part 1. The guys have a short discussion on the different reasons men are looking to 'heal' and the negative aspects of some of the things going on. At (14:05) we also have a discussion about the lack of empathy from men and the society that has bred these non-empathetic men leading into our first point.
1. Strong Men are Empathetic (18:10) - Jesus is the greatest example of this (18:35) even during suffering. This also leads into conversely how men fail to use their hurt & trauma as an experience to heal from and use to strengthen their community and thus fail to have empathy (20:35) & the lack of empathy from the church and church culture (30:10).
2. Strong Men are non-violent (44:35) - Strong men are non-violent, but should be capable of being aggressive. (48:39) The guys touch on the differences between aggression and violence and how emotional intelligence will help men distinguish from the two.
3. Strong Men ask for help (1:02:00) - Jesus is a reflection of using his friends and community to ask for communal prayer and the contrast of men being willfully ignorant to ask for help and use their community for support an accountability. We also speak on the dangers of isolation compounded with resisting to ask for help.
Supporting Scripture - John 11:33, Matthew 26:52, Matthew 26:36
