So… when you see your kids going down a path that isn’t good for them… perhaps a path you once traveled, too… don’t be afraid to tell them about your own mistakes.  When you admit your weakness… you’re actually helping your teen understand that he or she can turn out okay, too.   And your honesty could be just the thing that keeps them from mimicking your mistakes.
