Does your teen respond well to discipline?

You’re probably thinking, “Oh yeah, Mark, my daughter just loves it when I take away her phone or tell her she can’t go to a party.” Okay, fair enough. No teenager is going to enjoy being disciplined.

But you can help your teen by making sure she knows that discipline isn’t about you, it’s about her. You’re disciplining her to help her get where she wants to be in life—not just because you have a control complex.

If she still doubts this, it might be a good idea to have someone outside the home intervene and help her understand. Even if she doesn’t appreciate it now, one day she’ll realize that your discipline helped keep her on the right track.
