Steadfast Joy

Listen Later

Is faith the animating principle of your life? Trust God to bring you to the end. Ask God to show you how to use your trial for your good and His glory. We struggle to have joy in our trials because we fail to accept the joy God has already offered us. Come to terms with where you are so that you can see where God is looking to bring you. Rest in what you know to be true of God above all else. Count all daily experiences and trials as a richer and fuller life in Christ. God uses our trials to create steadfastness and stability in us. Don’t count your trials as worthless or unfulfilling. Do you experience joy where God has you? And how He’s made you? If you think joy is in fulfillment, you’ll never find true lasting joy. Joy is not something to look for--we already have it now. God is working in you during trials. Don’t focus on what is bring produced in you through trials, but focus on the One who is working in you through the trial. Remember God and His infinite care and love for you. Joy is not in having, but in being--being who you are in Christ. Root your joy in who God is. Looking for our situation to change, or trying to escape from our trials will not bring us joy. See who God wants to be to you. He wants to be your joy. Know that God is present in your current trial. Your discontentment, jealousy, and frustration is only robbing you of true joy. Nothing you go through or experience is in vain. See that you lack, and then see that God is willing to work in you. Let your lack draw you closer to God. See that God is the One who longs to fill our needs. Do you see God as generous? Step into the promise that God desires to give joy in the face of disappointment.
