In 2018 Iraq, a family of six was murdered in their home by a trusted friend, former police officer Alaa Hussein Jabbar. Using his professional knowledge, he attempted a “perfect crime” driven by financial desperation. Investigators linked him to the murders through a fingerprint on a safe and DNA from tea cups at the family’s funeral. The case highlighted the betrayal of a 15-year friendship and the precision of forensic work, ultimately resulting in Jabbar’s death sentence and serving as a warning about the dangers of over-trusting close acquaintances with personal financial matters.
