Is God’s sole purpose to get us into heaven? Or is there something more that He wants to do for us? Are we missing His full purpose for us? Many Christians feel something is lacking in their experience and long to know completeness in Christ. In ignorance of our great need, we compare ourselves with others, and think, At least I’m not like that person. Deep inside, though, we know we’re lacking something essential. Like a surfer thrown by an overpowering wave, we feel that we’re fighting a losing battle, trying to reach the shore but drowning in sin instead. Experienced surfers know it’s useless to fight the waves. In the same way, victorious Christians must learn that fighting against Christ is harder than surrendering to Him.
