I applied to a Ph.D program and this is the process I used too. It’s time consuming, but well-worth the time. You will be spending the next 4- 6 years of your life in this Ph.D. program. You have to put in the work now to avoid regretting it later. Your prime years of your life should be well spent in the program that suits you the best.
