Nowadays there are so many alternative names for being called a Step Parent. They range from, half-parent, other mom/dad, bonus parent, mamma/papa (insert name), SM/SD. As endearing as those nicknames are there are some nicknames not so endearing. Not to mention, most if not all Step Parents have heard the most disrespectful phrase “you’re not my mom/dad, I don’t have to listen to you”. Just know you’re not alone in this journey and here on the Women’s Locker Room we recognize how active Step Parents are in a child’s life, sometimes more active than a biological parent. There’s no manual on how to be a step parent but tune in to hear how we’ve handled the trials and tribulations of being a Step Parent, what to expect, suggestions on creating and managing relationships with various ages, discuss what people should’ve and probably never told you and so much more.
