Biography

Stephen L. Carter is the William Nelson Cromwell Professor of Law at Yale University, where he has taught for almost 30 years. He is also the author of seven acclaimed works of nonfiction and three best-selling novels. He has a law degree from Yale and clerked for Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Carter’s first novel, “The Emperor of Ocean Park,” spent 11 weeks on The New York Times best-seller list in 2002. His fifth and latest novel is “The Impeachment of Abraham Lincoln.”
