Love, Business, and the mix of the two – all in this episode!

Steve Farber is an amazing author and incredibly insightful leadership coach who has studied and applied leadership principles for his entire career. His work has become known as some of the seminal stuff in the leadership community. In this interview David T.S. Wood has a great conversation with Steve about his books, leadership, love in business, investing in other people, and many other topics.

There’s a huge theme in this conversation – and it has to do with love. Steve and David talk for quite some time about why love has to exist in the business realm, even though those two words are not often used in the same sentence. It is concern, care, and interest in what is best for others that should motivate leadership, business, marketing, and everything in between.

Why is it that we value love in every area of life but when it comes to business tend to think it doesn’t fit. Steve contends that love has to be integrated into business practices in order for the business to truly make consistent positive change in the lives of its clients or customers.

There’s also a great section in the dialogue where Steve shares why great leaders become great through making others greater than themselves. He contends that great leaders should build their legacy by cranking out leader after leader who has come up under their mentoring and investing. It’s a train of thought that is almost counter-intuitive in the modern business world, but Steve contends is the main way to make a positive, lasting impact on the world.

Pull up a chair, grab a notepad (or your iPad) and take some great notes. Steve’s going to back up the dump truck and unload a bunch of goodness.
