Steven Fry's goal is "to be the wild card that ups the ante and redefines the game."
It wasn't an easy start for Steve. He was the youngest of 6 siblings and his family was just scraping by financially. His poor grades early in high school pointed toward a bleak future but a high school guidance councillor allowed him to take academic courses in grade 11 and Steve was determined to get the grades he needed to be accepted into University.
Through these early obstacles, Steve learned a thing or two about advocating for himself, negotiation and hard work. He worked two jobs to pay for University.
Steve is the guy that was featured in Toronto Life's 2019 story - "Confessions of a Legal Pot Dealer". After University, he entered the world of health care and climbed the ladder at Shared Services West becoming the Vice-President of Operations.
After hearing a radio ad for the cannabis lottery in Ontario that would award 25 people with the license to open a legal cannabis store, Steve thought "why not me". He applied and forgot all about it until he received a FB message from a friend that asked if the Steve Fry he saw as a winner was him. At that point, Steve's life changed Steve opened and operated the first licensed cannabis store in Hamilton, and became President and Co-founder of Sessions Cannabis, which has 25 retail locations and is growing. He is an industry trailblazer and in this episode, he provides great advice on negotiation skills, hard work, and networking.5
