What a dive into the mindset of a champion, and what it takes to stay the course.
Steve Moneghetti is an Australian Sporting Icon. His career has been nothing short of epic nad impactful. Not only in his own sporting arena, but across the board for athletes all around the world from different sports.
Steve’s Achievements on the road include
Gold - 94 Commonwealth Games - Silver and 2 Bronze in 86, 90 & 98
Bronze - 97 World Championships
Upon retiring from Professional Running, Steve has gone on to do some incredible work, being the face of many events around the country, and in 2010 was named as the Australian Team’s Chef De Mission for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India. A position he held all the way through to the Gold Coast Games in 2018, where it was a pleasure to share the green and gold with him.
In 2014 he was nominated for an Order of Australia medal and was quoted as saying “Not bad for not winning an Olympic gold”
In 2021, Steve was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame as a general member.
He continues today to impact the sporting environment in such a positive way and we are all so grateful for his contribution.
I loved this episode as we got into the mind of a champion, and the mind of going the long distance and all the adversity that comes along with running in a marathon. So many great lessons to relate to here.
