This week we sit down with Jared Brown — aka Jrod — and it's a heavy one in the best way possible. Jrod opens up about his upbringing, the years lost to drug addiction, and the moment everything had to change. Then comes the twist: he finds mountain biking, falls head over handlebars in love with it, and starts absolutely crushing it — on the trails and in life.
It's a conversation that's equal parts gutting and hilarious. We get real about rock bottom, the ugly middle, and why pedaling uphill turned out to be the therapy nobody prescribed. Jrod doesn't sugarcoat the hard stuff, but somehow he still has us laughing by minute twenty.
Then it's trip recap time: Day 1 of our Angel Fire bike trip. Checked. Legs burning? Obviously. Questionable line choices, big descents, and at least one moment we'll never live down. We break down the trails, the wins, and the general chaos of getting a crew and their bikes up a mountain.
Matt, Braven and Jrod make their way to Angel Fire Bike Park and sit down with Patrick West, the Bike Park Manager at Angel Fire Resort. We chat about trails, how Patrick ended up in Angel Fire from Texas. His passion for snow making off season and everything in between!
We are back! Our first episode in a few months, we chat family tips, new jobs, new gear, our Thule group ride with Asa Vermette. Our trip in a few weeks in Angel Fire and much more!

Today’s episode features Mike Murfitt—pro BMX rider and founder of Traction Coffee Roasters.
We dig into Mike’s early days falling in love with BMX, going pro at a young age, and the role his dad played in backing him from the start. From making industry connections in the MySpace era to an unconventional stint landing a job at Morgan Stanley, Mike shares how he figured things out on the fly.
He also talks about a pivotal chapter at Oskar Blues Brewery in his early 20s, learning under Dale, and how that experience reshaped his path. After time with a fast-growing national coffee brand, Mike took the leap and launched Traction Coffee Roasters—right in the middle of the pandemic.
This episode is packed with lessons, risks, pivots, and the mindset it takes to build something from the ground up.
