In this episode, Jessy and Rebekah talk about STIs and the shame/stigma attached to positive diagnoses. We give you the downlow on the history of STI shame, the difference between STIs and STDs (yes, there is one!), we talk about the importance of testing and then we teach you some cool stuff about BUGS! Bug facts are the best facts. But, before we dive in, give us a look on Medium. 10:45: In 2017, Planned Parenthood health centers across the US “provided more than 4.4 million STD tests and treatment, including more than 700,000 HIV tests.” The Trump Administration has been antagonizing Planned Parenthood for the past 3 years, causing the organization to reject federal funding under Title X rather than abide by administration rules that the organization does not refer women for abortion services.

26:00: It’s true! There are more then 600 million cases of human papillomavirus (HPV) in the world, with 20 million of those being here in the US. Around 56% of college-age women in new relationships are infected with HPV< according to a study led by Eduardo Franco at McGill University in Montreal.
27:00: We were wrong! As of late 2018, the FDA had expanded the approval of Gardasil 9, the HPV vaccine, to include men and women aged 27-45! Previously it had been recommended only those aged 9-26. Get them vaccines, friends!
