Sticky Jazz Interview Linda Kelly

Listen Later

For a piece of counterculture, life as an artifact, and gathering someone elses' stories, Linda Kelly bridged a generation to make sure that the "Deadhead" culture and cultural phenomenon remain in tact.
Linda Kelly wrote a book called "Deadheads" and was hailed by Rolling Stone Magazine as "The most comprehensive book about The Grateful Dead", the thing is, it's not really about the band directly, it is a collection of stories from people who lived it all. She fell into the Dead on accident then became a historian of the movement. I learned very little about the Dead in the book, but so much about the world around them.
She is also managing editor of "Haight Street Voice", covering that part of the world as it still manages to attract and inspire.
She is full of stories of shows, tours, people (Working for Skywalker Ranch) and insights on the paradigm of where the country can steer itself to correct and heal from some of the darker chapters of our history.
