Have you ever said yes—and immediately wished you could take it back?
Your best yes needs room. Sometimes, a thoughtful no is how you make that room.
In this solo episode of Still Finding My Voice, Lynne Street explores people-pleasing, setting boundaries, and making intentional decisions that align with your heart, soul, and values.
Building on Monica Azoulay’s reminder that “behavior leaves clues” and Daniel Wood’s story of losing half a million dollars, Lynne invites you to reflect on your own choices. Are you saying yes because something matters to you—or because saying no feels uncomfortable?
Using her VOICE Method™, Lynne guides you through five steps: View and Validate, Open, Integrate, Courage, and Embrace. Bring one decision you’re facing and leave with one small, honest next step.

What happens when the dream you’re chasing falls apart—and you have to find the courage to begin again?
In this episode of Still Finding My Voice, I’m joined by Daniel Wood, co-founder and CEO of the Swedish Wealth Institute, for an honest conversation about mindset, personal growth, and rebuilding after financial setbacks.
Daniel shares how a moment of inspiration at a Brian Tracy event sparked his entrepreneurial journey—and how pursuing real estate success without the right knowledge led to a devastating financial collapse.
What followed challenged him to rethink success, ask for help, and build a path rooted in his own goals. Along the way, he discovered the value of surrounding himself with people who could help him learn and grow.
IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL DISCOVER:
✓ How Daniel began treating failure as a source of learning—and what that shift made possible.
✓ Why ambition needs the support of knowledge, preparation, and the right resources.
✓ How connecting with fellow investors helped him find a way forward after financial loss.
✓ The role relationships played in connecting him with mentors, speakers, and new opportunities.
✓ Why defining success for yourself matters more than climbing someone else’s ladder.
Whether you’re building a business, navigating a transition, or wondering how to start over, this conversation offers encouragement to take your next step. Daniel’s experience is a reminder that a setback can become a turning point—and that you can ask for support along the way.

What happens when we slow down long enough to truly listen to the people we love—and find the courage to ask for what we need?
Dr. Alice Benton returns to Still Finding My Voice to talk about faith, family connection, healthy communication, screen management, encouragement, and the journey of using our voices with both truth and grace.
Dr. Alice is a licensed clinical psychologist, wife, mother of three, author, and co-host of New Life LIVE. She specializes in parental screen-management coaching, Christian counseling, health and wellness, and trauma recovery.
In this episode, we discuss her book, 100 Days of Biblical Family Engagement—a practical devotional built around one Bible verse, three discussion questions, and a brief prayer. Alice explains how small, consistent moments with Scripture can open meaningful family conversations and make biblical principles feel accessible in everyday life.
We also explore:• How screens can connect us—but also create distance at home• Why screen-free family meals and face-to-face conversation matter• Modeling healthy technology habits for our children• Balancing five encouraging statements with constructive feedback• Why people pleasing, criticism, and conflict avoidance can silence us• Practicing difficult conversations in safe relationships• Learning to receive compliments instead of brushing them aside• Asking clearly and courageously for what we need• Finding a safe sisterhood where women can strengthen their voices
Alice challenged me to ask for one thing I need from the people who love me. Now I’m passing that challenge to you: What is one need you can respectfully express this week?
PARENTING SUPPORT
Dr. Alice’s parenting support group meets by Zoom on the second Saturday of each month at 8:00 a.m. Pacific. Parents of children of all ages—including adult children—are welcome. The group addresses family connection, screen addiction, preventing estrangement, and preparing children for the real world. Contact Dr. Alice or visit her website for current details and registration.

Comedy Gone Wrong… and Somehow It Got Even Funnier. 😂🎙️
You know those moments when you realize the joke is on you?
Well… welcome to my week.
Back in 1992, I took legendary comedy coach Judy Carter’s stand-up comedy class. That experience stretched me in ways I never expected. As a professional dancer, I was comfortable performing with my body—but comedy challenged me to trust my voice. It taught me to tell stories, laugh at my own life, and connect with an audience in a completely different way.
Fast forward more than 30 years.
I recently recorded my podcast episode, “Don’t Open Your Mouth: How I Found My Voice Anyway,” which was inspired by my Toastmasters speech. In that speech, I share how Judy’s class became part of my journey from hiding behind choreography to speaking into a microphone with confidence.
Or at least… I thought I did.
I sent Judy the link to the podcast episode and proudly told her I’d mentioned her.
Then I listened to it again.
Somewhere between recording, editing, and publishing, I had accidentally left out the entire section about Judy.
The very person who helped me discover my voice…
…was missing from the episode about finding my voice.
You honestly can’t make this stuff up.
So I did what I always try to do when life hands me an awkward moment—I laughed, admitted my mistake, and recorded a new introduction to the episode. Because authenticity matters more than pretending I get everything right.
One thing I’ve learned from podcasting, speaking, and life is this:
Mistakes aren’t proof that you shouldn’t create. They’re proof that you’re creating.
If you’ve ever hit “send” too soon, forgotten something important, or confidently told someone something that wasn’t actually true… welcome to the club. You’re in good company.
Thank you, Judy Carter, for teaching me all those years ago that humor isn’t about being perfect. Sometimes the funniest stories are the ones we accidentally create ourselves.
And yes… this one is definitely going into my blooper reel.
What’s the funniest mistake you’ve ever made that turned into a better story than the original? I’d love to hear it. 👇
