Mrs Bennett is Mrs. Bennet is a miraculously tiresome character. Noisy and foolish, she is the antithesis of stoicism in women. She has little control over her emotions and is set up by Jane Austen as an object of scorn. Her lack of social graces alienates the very people (Darcy and Bingley) whom she tries so desperately to attract, with view to marrying her daughters.
