Jedediah Hotchkiss was a Lykens PA school teacher prior to the start of the Civil War. He would walk from the Lykens Valley, through Harrisburg and into the Shenandoah Valley on the same route that he would later map out for General Lee's Pennsylvania invasion that led to the Battle of Gettysburg.
