There's one thing that I can say has helped me grow a community that just makes sense, the fact that I try to be as selfless as possible. I've noticed that the more selfish someone is, the less life gives them and the harder that person has to work! As much as selfishness can be good (although "selfishness" isn't the word I'd use) the majority of the time selflessness is even better. Combine that with empathy and just caring for people, in general, can go a LONG way.
