Mary Sorma, Head Trainer at Tremont Athletic Club in Cleveland, stopped by to bust some dieting myths and help us understand what we should really be eating. After this conversation, you'll understand how much we like to complicate things for ourselves.
The pressure to diet and look Instagram filter-perfect has consumed our society. Dieting trends have become so powerful that they've made their way to stores and product labels- "low carb," "Keto friendly," "Paleo friendly," "Healthy Fats," "Low Calorie." One diet tells you to eliminate carbs, another tells you to do without fats, but our bodies need those things, you stand in the grocery store feeling completely and totally defeated so you just go home and order a pizza (I can't be the only one that does this).
Mary not only gives us all the tips and great advice when it comes to healthy fitness and nutrition habits, but she emphasizes what we all want to hear- that we don't need to stop going to taco Tuesday because we're trying to eat healthier. It's all about building healthier habits that help us strike that balance so we don't feel the guilt and shame around eating a taco and having a margarita or two. Listen to the full episode to get all the details on how you can begin to build your own healthy habits that will help you strike a better balance.
