In 2007, Roz Savage set out to row 8,000 miles across the Pacific Oceanalone. Despite having successfully rowed across the Atlantic the previous year, the Pacific presented the former office worker with unprecedented challenges and overpowering currentsboth in the water and within herself.
Crossing Earths largest ocean alone might seem a long way removed from everyday life, yet the lessons Roz learned about the inner journey, the ocean, and the world are relevant to all of us. She shares tales of the ups and downs of her voyage across the waves, while offering insights on how to find happiness through a meaningful and rewarding life.
Critic Reviews:
"[Savage's] British accent adds a personal touch to her account of the joys and challenges of undertaking such a big trip. This first-person account displays her intimate maritime knowledge, as conveyed in the technical details of her trip." (AudioFile)

Super inspirational
After being widowed I have been working hard to reinvent myself. Even as a very positive person, sometimes I've felt that I just can't do this on my own. Roz's Book has given me renewed strength and optimism that I can indeed build a wonderful life and achieve anything I want. Her story of overcoming obstacles will stay with me for a very long time. It has also renewed my determination to do everything I can to help the environment.
I only listened to 1/3, so maybe it gets better?
Narration is OK. I've heard some god awful narration so i couldn't put it in the 1 or 2 stars with that category of "unlistenable". Still, the narration was just ok.
Story really belongs in a much shorter book. I'm sure the story is actually very very good - but she draws it out with detailed accounts of things that we just don't care about hearing. There's a constant refrain about how she likes to eat clean & is forced to eat things she doesn't want to eat. It's exhausting to listen to mundane comments about how you don't like a certain type of food. I feel like I'm at my friend's house & her 5 year old is protesting that night's dinner.
Seriously, I have to believe this story gets better - but I can't make it through a minute longer.
Sooo Enjoyable and informative!
