Stop Hiding

Listen Later

In this episode, I reflect on a conversation with a fellow small business owner about the fears that often hold us back. We discussed how we used to hide in our businesses and personal lives, putting ourselves on the back burner. The core realization? We were afraid to speak our truths and tell our stories.

Your Story Matters:

  • Regardless of whether you're a business owner with a massive following or just starting, what you say matters.
  • Authenticity is key—being true to yourself will naturally attract the right people.
  • Social media can be filled with inauthenticity, but staying true to who you are will set you apart.

Letting Go of External Opinions:

  • Many of us have struggled with worrying about what others think.
  • It’s important to be intentional about whose opinions you value. Write down 1-5 people whose input truly matters in your life.
  • The power of writing things down is often overlooked in the digital age, but it can bring clarity and focus.

Handling Criticism and Doubts:

  • People will always have opinions—some will think you post too much, others will think you post too little.
  • If you are happy with what you're doing, that’s what truly matters.
  • We often create negative stories in our heads about how people perceive us, but many times, these are unfounded.
  • I’ve personally had people book with me after I assumed they wouldn’t—proving that our self-doubt can be misleading.

Showing Up and Sharing Your Story:

  • Hiding and staying silent does a disservice to ourselves and others.
  • Sharing our struggles and experiences can help others who may be going through similar challenges.
  • Even if only one person resonates with your story, that connection makes it worth sharing.

Closing Thoughts:

  • Don't be afraid to be yourself, whatever that looks like for you.
