In Philippians 4:2–9, we finds words to fighting church members, whose unkindness was affecting the whole body. As Paul said elsewhere, a little leaven was beginning to leaven the whole lump (see Galatians 5:9; 1 Corinthians 5:6). Paul wrote this section of the letter to deal with the problem of disharmony—or, more specifically, to tell the Philippians how to deal with it.
