I used to keep score with everyone from Friends, to co-workers. Who called who last?  Who shows up late the most? Who did the dishes last night? I finally realized that no one cares about the scorecard in my brain. This was the source of unhappiness as well as a sign of low confidence. We can’t even trust ourselves, one study found that 75% of people overestimate their role in relationships. I had to Stop thinking in concepts like “fair.” It’s completely meaningless and has no useful function.
