this book "hit home"! like you have "read my mind"!
I am 77 years old and have experienced panic attacks since I was about 50 +/- years old.
Like yours, my first one "came out of the blue". You have described
my experiences precisely. Just knowing you understand this already helps me a lot.
Your book, in total, will really help me overcome.
I believe it is a genetic inheritance,

(By the way, the icon on the "Meditation Exercise" page - "Keep calm and carry on" -
is a poster from England in 1940 - made to be distributed if the Nazis did conquer
England. Of course, they did not - so the poster was not needed. When you
think of a Panic situation, that would have been tops!)

Helpful and to-the-point
I have experienced panic attacks for most of my life, but I didn't realize until a few years ago that this is actually what was happening to me. I had pictured panic attacks as something more visible to observers, so when others talked about their attacks, I didn't realize it was the same thing that happens to me regularly. Once I was finally been able to self-diagnose my condition as panic attacks, I decided I'd had enough of living in fear of the next attack and I went on a hunt for resources that could help me manage this issue. That was right around the time I found this book.
Tricia DiSandro speaks with authority as one who is not only knowledgeable about panic attacks, but has experienced them herself. She has learned strategies to help cope with the attacks and not let them stop her from living her life as fully as possible. I found comfort in reading her story of how she was once held back in many ways, but she is now doing things she was once too fearful to do...all without medication.
The author presents the information in a succinct and conversational way, making this booklet an easy and quick read without a lot of extra "fluff" to wade through. She gets right to the point and includes many useful strategies that you can start using right away in your own life to help manage your own panic attacks.
