We have all done it-- we want to try to sell our product/service to everyone! We know that it is a pefect fit for all mankind (insert sarcasm here).

We want to become the "must have" for them, and that means being hyperfocused on identifying the correct customer. We need to figure our our ideal customer profile, and then move outward from there.
