Our culture is awed with the talented, gifted, strong and powerful. We applaud self-starters and disciplined hard workers. We’re proud of and love the good guy while despising the bad guy. Weakness is frowned upon; the needy ashamed. Maybe that’s why we struggle to see a God that is good; A God that is for us. The same attributes we love in society might actually be wrecking havoc on us when applied poorly to our spiritual lives. After all, Jesus was presented as good news to the weak and needy.
