I think we've all said this at one time or another or used it as a figure of speech, but thinking this way can bottleneck your business faster than anything. I know our business can very much feel like our babies at times but let me offer a reframe.

On this week's podcast episode of Make Your Passion Pay You I'm sharing 4 reasons why viewing your business as your baby can be DETRIMENTAL:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. You can't see things for what they are. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Much like a helicopter mom with rose-colored lenses, we can coddle and "oh, not MY baby" into denial and delusion about where things really are in our biz and what needs to change. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. You make everything personal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When your business is your "baby" you'll obsess over if people like your social media posts, if everyone gets it and accepts you. Every perceived failure will look like a personal representation or rejection of you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. You won't delegate and get your hooks out of it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This one is probably the worst. No one can take care of your baby like you. No one can do it like you-therefore you overwork, micromanage, and refuse to build a team to help you scale. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. You'll struggle to make decisions quickly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When it's your "baby" every decision seems to equally weigh in importance. Paralysis by analysis will be heightened because after all what if you make the WRONG decision for your BABY. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your business is a VEHICLE, a conduit to impact people and live life by design. Not your baby. You can still be passionate and do work that lights you up without expecting your business to fulfill parts of you that it was never meant to. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When things go wrong in your business view it as a puzzle to put together from a neutral place instead of being gutted or attacked bc something's off with your "baby."⠀
