We owe a great debt to the brave men and women who gave their last measure of devotion to preserve and protect the principles, values, and freedoms cherished by our country’s forefathers. Yet, for many, Memorial Day seems little more than a long weekend off, grilling hot dogs and hamburgers, hopping on the boat, heading to the beach, or catching a sale on a mattress or lawn tractor. How is it that we so easily forget the cost of the freedom each of us has to grill our burgers,or enjoy that trip to the beach, or gather here today to worship together in this public school gymnasium? How is it that so many of those who call America home have chosen to set aside the principles and values that enabled America to become the greatest nation on earth?
