Where are you storing up your treasures? In this thought provoking series asking if we really think Jesus meant everything He said, we are challenging ourselves to self-refect. Are our lives a reflection of the teachings of Jesus? Are His teaching directing our lives, instructing our lives, forming our lives? When Jesus does an accounting of our material possessions, an audit of our finances, a hard look at how we spend our money, what will He find? What will be His conclusions? Will He find us as people who are storing up our treasures in Heaven or here on Earth? In this message on the weekend of our Annual Business Meeting, we are going to talk about what we believe Jesus is teaching us about the difference between those two and also what He is trying to tell us through this idea of “storing.” I don’t think people avoid church because they talk about money. I think they are tired of churches that talk about money in the wrong ways and for the wrong reasons. I hope that tonight is a refreshing reminder that City Life’s conversation about money isn’t instructed by ungodly desires of institutional self-indulgence. Our conversations about money are inspired by the teachings of Jesus…because we believe that He means everything He says.
