This week, we continue our series Stories That Last by exploring one of Jesus’ most well-known parables—the story of the Lost Son. But before Jesus tells this story, He first responds to the criticism of the Pharisees for eating with “sinners” by telling three stories: about a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a lost son.
We reflect together not only on the radical grace of the Father but on who Jesus is really speaking to—the religious leaders. These stories aren’t just about individual repentance, but about how we see people. In God’s eyes, people are never disposable, never beyond welcome, and always worthy of being found and celebrated.
We’re reminded that hospitality, table-sharing, and mutual care are sacred—embodying the very heart of Jesus. The challenge? To extend the same grace to all people, just as Jesus does.
