A discussion based on my book Psycho"therapy" and the Stories We Live By which is my attempt to seperate my idea of what the field might look like once the corrupt, illogical and toxic notions of "mental illnesses and disorders," and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disoders (DSM). I will discuss the need for new language to describe the field and what it does and speak to the need of both professionals and those who seek their help to reject the psychiatric model.
