A fun read
In the second installment of the new Storm series from Steven Becker, We find father (John) and son (Mako) once again working on a case from different angles and running in to each other and grudgingly teaming up. The dynamic between the two is probably one of my personal favorites in reading the series. Of course there are other plot lines, LOT's of them... Pirate Treasure, Hawaiian Royalty, Beautiful Women, Intriguing Villains (Japanese Businessman, other treasure seekers, and militant island sovereigntists), Starting in the Midwest and moving on to the islands, the action never slows, and even with clues scattered along the way, I was surprised when I reached the end. This series is still new, and as the characters and their relationships get a little more developed, I fully expect the series to rival some of the others Mr Becker is better known for. Get in on the ground floor and hang on for the ride.
Mr Becker delivers another well crafted adventure
An extremely fast paced adventure that keeps you on your toes trying to follow all of the plot twists. The Father son team, John and Mako Storm, are still working out family problems while once again dealing with international intrigue. Once the action moves to Hawaii the tempo picks up and more intricate plot twists come to the surface.
All in all this is a very well written second installment in the Storm Thriller series. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a great adventure story.
Steamy locale and ladies
From cold Chicago to steamy Hawaii, the father-and-son Storm, and a pair of steamy ladies, bring a fast-paced and highly enjoyable adventure novel. I certainly did not see the plot twist coming, and, as always, thoroughly enjoyed Steven Becker's work. Anxiously awaiting whatever, and whoever, is next.
Not one of Becker's better reads.
Not one of Becker's better reads. Very shallow and seems to be a recipe for incompetent, so called investigators. Missing details as to how certain situations were reached. The flow is just not here. On a couple of occasions I was just going to stop reading and move on. But I finished it anyhow.
Fascinating
Hawaii Buccaneers, what a basis for a story. Carefully crafted adventure, with several competing interests. Hurricanes and active volcano wrapped in one mix. Impressive research for the underpinning of the tale, with modern ethnic competition. Enjoyable.
