Publisher's Summary:
When newly single Annabel Hansen moves to the coastal town of Binz, all she wants is to leave her former life behind. Soon after settling into a beautiful home overlooking the Baltic Sea, she stumbles upon an old fishing boat in a nearby harbor and discovers another purpose: to convert the bullet-riddled Storm Rose into a floating café.
Yet there's more to this project than peeling paint and a bad engine. When Annabel finds an old letter from an East German defector who was smuggled to safety aboard the vessel, she and Christian - her handsome new business partner - set out to find its author. Together they'll unravel the Storm Rose's hidden past - and a shocking mystery that will change Annabel's life forever.
Members Reviews:
I thoroughly enjoyed this German novel
Storm Rose is set in modern unified Germany on the Baltic coast with several extended flashbacks to divided Germany prior to the end of the cold war. The novel is about the unusual lives of the primary protagonist Annabel, the secondary protagonist and Annabel's business partner/boyfriend Christian, and the large, decrepit old motorboat named Storm Rose which Annabel and Christian purchase and upgrade to become a floating cafe. Annabel's 5 year old daughter by her prior marriage as well as her adoptive parents also play a major role.
Storm Rose, the novel, is about investigating Annabel's life history as well as that of the Storm Rose. It is a beautiful historical mystery, so do not expect any sustained intense suspense; it is not a thriller. I would listen to it again.

Wonderful
I picked up this audible having never read Corina Bomann.
I read the reviews and they sounded good. So glad i did. What a way to be taken back to a time when life was so uncertain and a young girl searching for answers as to why her Mother took off and left her an orphan.
I highly recommend this title
Best book I've read all year.
I absolutely loved this book. So many different things coming together, so even though it's 37 chapters it held me until the end.
Storm Rose impressive
I loved it. I'm not usually into historical fiction. However, this was so well done. Take place in present in Germany. Gives information of before the wall was constructed, during the period while it was up, and after it came down. Very interesting. I really recommend this book.
Informative
I enjoyed the historical aspect of the story. Not much is heard on the subject of trying to escape from East Germany. The ending seemed abrupt.
