STORY: Criminally Charged For Wiping Phone
Samuel Tunick was arrested for allegedly wiping his phone - charged with destruction of evidence related charges. Court documents suggest his was pulled over relating to a taillight issue - we aren't yet aware of a potential warrant or criminal charge leading up to this being pulled over.
What alarms me is does this also threaten our right to even enable disappearing messages for Signal encrypted messenger?
Would this make Apple iPhone users liable for the security feature that wipes devices on 10 misentered password attempts?
The reality is, our rights are DIFFERENT in the 100 mile vicinity around USA border - all the way around the country.
If you live in that zone, you may be legally searched in some cases.
Of course, this advice is only intended for 100% innocent individuals, and is about understanding our right to even use security on our devices.
Which is highly alarming.
