On a weekly basis I put together a podcast about what I am doing a long the journey of failing my way (in public to success) Me doing this show is quite conflicting because obviously I should be this finished polished article that can show you exactly what you need to do to be successful but like us all, I make mistakes and I'm on this journey to find out just how far I can go I really hope you appreciate that and don't judge me too much because you as well have a journey to go and if you are judging me then you are judging yourself and I would hate to see that happen
On todays show I talk about if you really want to annoy me ..... Say this!
Rocky is a boxing movie
You probably think it is just a boxing a movie but it is so much more than that and we need to look before the movie was even made
The story of the actor Sylvester Stallone
Born with a birth defect, he suffered nerve damage to the left side of his face, causing him to speak the way he does
growing up though he knew he wanted to be an actor (almost impossible to be an actor even if you look like Brad Pitt so imagine his chances)
but he knew it was what he wanted to do....that is so important, you have to have a vision of who you want to become
on his journey to becoming an actor, he was offered roles but he knew they were not for him, LESSON, you have to learn to say no
it go so bad with the not getting any roles that he sold his wife's jewelry, he would rather pawn her jewelry than take on a role he didn't believe was for him.
if you think that's bad, he ended up selling his best friend (his dog) to a random person in the streets for 25 dollars. can you imagine doing that ?
Whilst watching an exhibition boxing match, with Muhammad Ali, the Heavy Weight Champion of the World, against Chuck Wepner, he was inspired to write a script about A Boxer who was never given a chance in a fight but ended up knocking down the champ and going the distance
He was so inspired that within 3 days he had written a 90 page script, how many of you get inspired but act on it?
He approached many companies but was rejected
He was on an audition for an acting role and by chance mentioned his script, (never pass up a chance to put something forward, you never know)
He was told you come back at the end of the day and show the script
They loved it and offer 25,000 USD for the script
Sly said thank you but I want to play the main role
They said no because he wouldn't attract an audience as he had no experience and the audience wouldnt be drawn by the name
They wanted the script, offered 50k, 100k 150k, imagine being offered that amount of money, he didnt hae money to feed his dog and now he is being offered 150k
He said no...
the offer went all the way to 360k, he said no
in the end they agreed to give him the part but only pay 35k for the script
He couldn't live with himself if the movie would've been a success and he didn't play the main role
So, you've just been paid 35k, what is the 1st thing you do? rent a place? buy some clothes, buy a car?
He went back to the streets and found the guy he sold the dog to
he offered him 4 times what he sold the dog for, the guy said no
in the end he paid 15000 USD to buy back the dog
The rest is history and with 1 million USD budget, the movie went onto make 200 million at the box office
