Where water becomes schnapps
Traveling in Southeast Asia is a verbatim account of the oddities that happened to me particularly in Laos and Cambodia. It was during the trip made in January 2025, which I made solo and which lasted 10 days
Traveling in Southeast Asia
It is the easiest area of the non-Western world to tour; Laos and the part of Cambodia I tell about here are less visited than others. As for Laos I tell some “tasty” culinary anecdotes.
For Cambodia, however, I explain why I wanted to go a couple of days to the capital Phnom Penh. It is certainly not the most beautiful city in the world, but there is evidence of the terrible dictatorship of Pol Pot, who in the 1970s, exterminated millions of his fellow citizens. Not enough has been said about what happened around the so-called Vietnam War, which instead produced so much pain in neighboring countries as well.
