Two weeks ago we began our series on Stranger Things with the story of the Day of Pentecost and the formation of the early church. This is important to know because, as we head out into our schools or work to become campus missionaries, we must understand what the early church looked like so we can make sure we do our best to look the same way. Their devotion to Scripture, each other, and prayer set the tone for what a loving church dedicated to God should look like.

And if you do this -- if you live your life according to Scripture, filled with love of God and those around you, and pray steadfastly throughout every day, people around you will always love you and you will never have a bad day, right?

Of course not! In fact, I’d say just the opposite. If you are a campus missionary, you are doing work for the Kingdom of God! You may have some people love you, and treat you well -- but typically those types of responses are the exception, not the rule. Believe it or not, if you do everything right and treat everyone with the utmost love and respect, you will be hated.
