Strangers in a Strange Land:
                                               “Living Hope"
                                               1Peter 1:3-12

• Living hope is more than wishful thinking: Heb 11:1
• Notice the Father and the Son are linked: Col 1:15
• Mercy is about our spiritual condition; we were spiritually dead: Eph 2:4-5
• The Resurrection is a historical Event: 1Cor. 15:17
• The unbeliever lives for materialism, but things just don’t last.  Our inheritance is eternal:  2Cor 4:16-18

       Four Facts about Living Hope:

1.         Living Hope is Protected by God's Power

•  Our inheritance is kept in heaven: Mt 6:19-20
•  Not only is our inheritance being protected by God, but we are also being protected in this world: Ps. 34:7
• God’s power energizes: Phil 2:12-13
• We are a work in progress: Phil 1:6
• They had their eye on the prize: Heb 12:2
• There is purpose in our trials: James 1:2

 

2.         Living Hope is Proven through Trials

•  Are we the real deal or are we just going through the motions: Isaiah 48:10
•  It is all about the glory: 2Cor 4:17
• They have not seen Jesus: John 20:29
• We have it all now: Eph 1:3

 

 

3.         Living Hope was Predicted by the Prophets

•  We see the fulfillment of prophecy: Mt. 13:17
• Spirit of Christ: the Holy Spirit: 2 Pet 1:21

 

 

4.         Living Hope is Preached though the Apostles

•  The Holy Spirit speaks through the Apostles: John 14:26
