1 Pet 4:1-6

        Four Empowering Perspectives:

1.         The Attitude of Christ: Done with Sin!

  •  Jesus was sinless but bore our sin: 1 Pet 2:24
  • Born again believers sin: John 1:8
  •  His sacrifice put an end to lifestyle sin: 1 John 3:9
  • Back to basics Series: Bearing the Family Resemblance - Episode 7
  • He is still thinking about Baptism: 1 Pet 3:21
  • Suffering here is referring to death, As Christ dealt with sin and defeated it, so we identify with him in Baptism and are done with sin: Rom 6:1-4

2.         The Will of God

  •  We don’t live by human passions but by God’s will: 1 John 2:16
  • We live a different standard: Rom 12:2

3.         The Transformed Life

       Two reasons for living not by human passions but by the  will  of God.

      1)      Past Behavior was contrary to God’s will: 1 Pet 1:14

  •  We were spiritually Dead: Eph 2:1-3

      2)      Present Behavior seems Strange or Foreign. 

  • Drawing the line in a new life will antagonize former friends: John 3:20
  • This emphatic clause rings of doom for their persecutors: Mt. 12:36
  • Judgment for the blasphemers should fortify the believers against attacks: 2 Thess. 1:6-9


4.                  The Hope of Eternal Life

  •  All people, both Christians and non-Christians, still have to die physically: Heb 9:27
  • Physical death is not the end of the deceased Christians:2 Cor 4:16-18
