This introduction to Frank Ocean’s debut mixtape, nostalgia, ULTRA, is titled after the Street Fighter video game series. The first game in the series came out in 1987, the same year Ocean was born.

When asked what his favorite video game system was, Ocean replied in a Tumblr post, saying:

don’t play much anymore. but i used to spend a lot of time on n64 and dreamcast.

While no Street Fighter games were released on the Nintendo 64 system, some were made available for the Sega Dreamcast, including Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Released in 1999, Ocean would have been 12 years old at the time and may have played this game, causing it to be nostalgic for him. Three other tracks on the mixtape are also named after video games: “Bitches Talkin” aka “Metal Gear Solid,” “Goldeneye,” and “Soul Calibur.”
