In Isaiah 40:27-31, the Israelites think God has forgotten them and is coldly distant. When weary, tired, frustrated, and wondering if God cares and why we suffer, people charge God with falsehoods. They begin to think unbiblical things about God.
Objection One: If God doesn’t end my suffering, He must not be good or loving.
The first thing we do is question God’s goodness. He must not care about me anymore, and he must not love me anymore.
Objection Two: If God doesn’t end my suffering, He must not be powerful or sovereign enough.
We may believe that God is loving, but we question His ability. Maybe He’s not as powerful as we thought, after all. Maybe my problems are too big for God to handle.
God answers their complaint with a promise to renew their strength. This power comes when we wait upon the Lord. What doe it mean to WAIT? Listen and find out.
