Strengthening Restorative Justice amidst continuous attacks in Communities

Over the years there has been countless attacks across farming communities in the Middle belt region of the country and Plateau State in Particular. Much has been said about these attacks and way forward but little has been done or said about the plight of the victims and survivors of these attacks. Focusing on their plight will require getting justice for them through legitimate means among other interventions to provide support and closure for healing as survivors seek restoration to continue their lives.
Consequently, Justice exists in three folds; Justice for the Victim, Justice for the Offender as well as Justice for the State. The offenders are tagged assailants and most of them have not been apprehended nor brought to justice. While the government seems to be How have we fared in terms of getting justice for victims and survivors of these violent attacks?
This is in view of the continuous attacks that have been recorded across these communities despite various pledges by the government that perpetrators will be brought to book. How do we ensure there is justice for victims and survivors? How can we also ensure that this justice is restorative? And how can we strengthen Restorative Justice mechanisms across communities affected by the violent attacks despite the continuous attacks and hostilities. All these will form the basis of our discussion on this edition of Building Bridges with Mr. John Danboyi (Coordinator, Peace Training Center - Jos) and Comr.
