Strengthening the Bilateral Relationship Between India & Australia with Jodi McKay (Episode 114)
🤝 Last evening, I was joined by the former NSW Labor Party Opposition Leader Jodi McKay on our podcast. She is also the former Shadow Minister of Multiculturalism and currently the National Chair of Australia’s leading business chamber dedicated to promoting bilateral trade and investment between India and Australia.
🇮🇳 🇦🇺 We discussed about a need to further strengthening the relationship between India & Australia, especially after the Prime Ministers of the 2 countries have met each other recently. They have taken steps in the right direction. But its going to be that people-to-people interaction that eventually build a transformational relationship between the 2 countries.
🗣️ Jodi very rightly pointed out that there is a strong need of cultural appreciation, understanding and awareness; rather than just looking at the cultural differences. She suggested at some of the ways of overcoming these challenges:
✅ Find a trusted partner in India/ Australia who can help you get the local knowledge of that region
✅ Demystifying the other culture by understanding more about each other and building a relationship of trust.
🤔 This reminds me of my International Business classes at UNSW Sydney led by Josh Keller where we uncovered a lot about understanding the cultural differences while talking about global relations.
