It’s nearly impossible to win at life… when we’re losing at relationships that matter

Navigating relationships as deeply flawed people naturally creates stress

Relational stress is caused by the combination of unfair expectations and unhealthy boundaries

    Where does stress start:

    Unrealistic expectations
    Unhealthy speed
    Unprepared seasons
    Unquenchable ache
    Unbalanced relationships

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. “

    - Matthew 11:28

    We don’t need more

    We need different

How do we repair out-of-balance relationships?

When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.”

    - Luke 22:14-15

He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

    - John 13:6-10

“No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”

    - John 13:6-10

“Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!” Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean.”

    - John 13:6-10

Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God.

    - John 13:3

Jesus both modeled and taught us to be selfless without abandoning self-dignity

Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well. You should have the same attitude toward one another that Christ Jesus had…

    - Philippians 2:4-5

Our identity in Christ is the foundation for our relational expectations and boundaries - Broken AND  Beloved

    No one can complete us

    Healthy relationships don’t just happen
    Seek God’s approval first

Allow our identity in-Christ to set fair expectations and healthy boundaries.
