Strike is a busy, well-muscled word; seemingly formed of conflict, its early gentility all but forgotten. Strike is a word that strolls through our language and then sticks out a sneaky foot to trip us up.

So, that's where this episode of Word Wrangling is heading: out on strike. Pausing, perhaps,  to picket, in  company with the likes of Ivor Biggun and Noam Chomsky. Which side are you on?
