Student in St. Lucie County Florida-Shooting threat
If you are in the Education field, what do you do when a student of yours says the following: “At 9’oclock, somebody is going to come and shoot. Lock your windows, lock your doors.”
How do you proceed? While I did escalate it, today I question the administration within my school last school year and their reaction as to why no evacuation was done at that time.
It is to my understanding that schools are practicing bomb threats evacuations, code reds yet a child speaks these words, and nothing is done. Why?
At the end of the day, do children not repeat their parents’ actions? Do children not repeat what adults say? Do we not have that background knowledge to know that this could have potentially ended horribly.
Today, I am thankful nothing more occurred. However, once again, this goes back to putting the right people in the right fields to ensure proper protection is taken place to prevent anything more from occurring.
