With student loan debt topping $1.6 trillion and proposals to forgive all or a portion of these loans coming from many in our federal government gaining ground, it is time to review who should be responsible for these loans. When considering student loan debt, it is also important to consider what our students are learning and what they are not when they pay often hundreds of thousands of dollars to obtain college degrees. Today's colleges offer a life more akin to a permanent jet setters, not hard working, struggling students with limited funds. Living above one's means is an individual problem, not a societal one, and the same is true with student loans.
