Welcome to Episode 28 of Students of the Game. The NFL is our lead topic today with a jam packed Week 13. The Giants and Jets continue their astonishing ways to disgust the class, with a schism still separating the class on whether or not the Giants are truly good or just the best of a bad situation. We run down the the rest of the weekends games and close it out with JW’s Overreactions that had some of us crying like Deshaun Watson. Sir Buns of house Giubelio had some choice words for new news coming out fo the NBA and their new rule changes for stars of the game. We embrace with disgust the current state of the boxing worlds with the announcement of Logan vs Mayweathe and where we think it’s going in the future. The class moves to hard stuff this week for our whiskey/bourbon reviews of the week. Dr. Harry gives us a snippet into the NHL’s start to the season coming in the near future. Ryan brings out a new twist to 20 questions and I close out the class with Pop Quiz Trivia to try and stump the class.
Due to a class conflict we will be skipping Statistically Challenged and we will resume as soon as we have reached a resolution. So, we kick off the show with the jam packed Week 12 of the NFL. From the Giants raising our blood pressure as always to discussions about awful coaching decisions. We dive into the latest head coach firings and who should be on deck in the coming weeks. With a quiet week of MLB and NBA talk we get into this weeks beer review which had everyone buzzing with Cheer and kicked off our Holiday Beverage reviews for the month. JW closes out the content with the awkwardly entertaining boxing matchups from over the weekend and the 3rd iteration of The Match which had Peyton Manning and Steph Curry vs. Charles Barkley and Phil Mickelson. Ryan pins the class against each other with another round of Debate Night and I close out class with Pop Quiz Trivia turkey day edition.
You’re in for an action packed episode today that you will not want to miss. We dive right into the NFL with a special guest caller who is a beloved Jets fan with a few words for his team and then an explosive debate breaks out about whether Derek Carr is a top 10 quarterback. Next, the Class discusses the blockbuster trades in the NBA this week and a potential huge 2022 signing rumor for the Lakers. During recess, the Class reviews yet another IPA that featured mixed reviews and complaints. Later, JW cleans up with his Scraps and previews the Match featuring Peyton Manning, Phil Mickelson, and Steph Curry. Before the final bell rings, Ryan and Mike cap things off with Spontaneous Debates and Pop-Quiz Trivia.
Welcome all to Episode 25 of Students of the Game. The NFL kicks off our show and as always we discuss how much the New York Giants keep ruining a tankable season for the true fans of the team. Fortunately for the Jets they could not lose this week on a bye, the NFC west is on fire with who is taking the top spot, and JW gives us his weekly Over Exaggerations around the NFL. With the kick off of the short NBA offseason we pulled in quite the hall of tea for this week with rumors and confirmed trades bouncing all around the league. We continue sipping not tea, but an ICONYC IPA out of Long Island City, NY, Curb Your Ego. We scrap and wrap it up with the Scraps by JW which congratulates this years Masters Tournament winner. Ryan takes over the show with Debate Night from his library of mini-games that thankfully didn’t have Mike pretending to be a woman again. Finally we close things out with POP QUIZ Trivia that had some entertaining answers throughout the segment.
God damn what a jam packed week of football, we have blowouts, shocking QB performances, games no one even knew were on and of course, endless disappoint from our favorite NY teams. After we make it through the double period of NFL, our MLB slate features some hopeful and inspiring news to our in-class Met fans, who are buzzing about their new owner and how he has entered the building like a bat out of hell. We move on and speed through some NBA rumors and trash talk that has been hopping around the internet. Our beer of the week gets a broad range of reviews ,so much so, it had this producer triple confused. Scrapping and wrapping up our content for the day is JW with the Scraps that pays respect to an all time great game show host. Ryan and myself close things out with the second iteration of Role Play, a Ryan original mini-game and Pop-Quiz Trivia as always.
Episode 23 is here and it is ROARING. We kick things off with a jam packed NFL segment featuring some good teams, great teams, and down right shitty New York teams. The woes of our New York football “teams” continue to haunt us but cannot leave the hot seat of conversation. We Bridgewater the gap to the MLB where we congratulate the LA Dodgers on their dominant World Series win, however, Buns continues to be stubborn and not apologize for his false claims against them. The NBA has sparked some new trade rumors that may shake up the start of the 2020 season coming, hopefully, this December. 6 Feet apart, an India Pale Ale, from a local Brooklyn brewery is on the hot seat for this weeks Beer Review. Our NHL Inside Report and a couple of tid bits from the Scraps clean up our sports content for the week. Ryan pairs up the class for a role playing improv session as a new mini game of the week and finally we close our episode out with Pop Quiz Trivia.
Here we go Episode 22 is up and live, first things first we take a dive into the NFL including the hard knock life of Jets and Giants fans everywhere. We then talk about the World Series that featured a wild game 4. After, Mike delivers a laughable NBA story that angers John. We reviewed our beer of the day where Mike truly had us in the first half. We then head over to the mini-game corner with a game of the Price is Right and cap things off with our Pop-Quiz Trivia from Mike.
Start pouring the shots because Students of the Game is officially 21. Let’s get things rolling with the dumpster fire that is NY football, we have just about given up on our beloved Jets and Giants, yet they keep amazing us with how bad they truly are. We then dive into some of the real football teams around the NFL who will actually have a winning season. The MLB World Series is upon us wit the LA Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays and we ask who our two sports gurus who they have winning it all. MMA comes storming back onto the syllabus with a jam packed slate over the weekend and a look into UFC 254 coming up. Ryan entertains the class with some more Price is Right this week from his library of mini-games. Dr. Harry PhD does not let us forget a legendary commentator who retired after an illustrious career in the NHL. Our Hungover October Liquor review of the week and a near host sweep of the entire class during our Pop-Quiz Trivia closes out today’s episode.
What’s that? A new challenger has entered the arena for Statistically Challenged and defeated our two sports brains to start things off? We then slide into a hefty dose of NFL talk with some tragic injuries taking the lead discussion. We move on to some quick updates in the MLB playoffs and another year without the NY Yankees winning a World Series. We congratulate Lebron, AD and the LA Lakers for winning the NBA Finals in 6 games against the Miami Heat. Shaking up the day, we come on down to the Price is Right with Ryan for our game of the week. Our sober October beverage review gave half the class an attempt to recover from a long and alcohol filled weekend. Some NHL trades and signings, as well as new video game talk with Dr. Harry PhD and JW close out content for the day. We bring the episode to a close with a playoff slate of Sports Trivia that boost up the numbers for majority of the class.
